June 2016 Exec summary notes: The Design & build of effective ‘Shared Service Centres’

Many face the combined challenges of:

– Reducing HR costs of delivery

– Removing duplication of effort, creating synergies and streamlining HR systems, processes and policies

– Achieving greater consistency of HR service delivery across geographic boundaries

– In parallel, improving the level of effectiveness of the HR function and the commercial contribution it brings

HR Shared Services is often promoted as the answer to many of these issues, often as part of an Ulrich – style HR model. Sounds great in theory, but how many of us really have the experience of designing and deploying HR Shared Services effectively and at scale?
Our lead contributor

Peter Abdey, Head of HR Services at Easyjet, and who has previously held similar roles at Icon, Colt, Misys, Sky and Compaq.

Peter has a wealth of experience in designing, leading the implementation of, and running shared services for international businesses at scale, covering the full range of HR service provisionincluding recruitment & resourcing.

Peter will share his experiences gained through several of the organisations he has worked for – what’s worked well and what learnings he has gained – the ‘war stories’ and the successes he’s achieved in many different contexts.
